There’s something about spring in Monterey that feels almost magical.
After the quiet of winter, the coastline begins to wake up. The hills turn a soft, vibrant green, wildflowers bloom along the cliffs, and the ocean air carries that fresh, renewed feeling that only spring can bring. Everything feels lighter, slower, and full of possibility. It’s my favorite season to photograph—and not just because of how beautiful it is. The Light is different; spring light in Monterey is soft, flattering, and incredibly romantic. Mornings feel calm and airy, while evenings bring that golden glow that gently wraps around everything—skin tones, flowers, and ocean views alike. It’s the kind of light that makes images feel timeless without trying too hard. The Blooms Don’t Last Long. One of the things I love most is how fleeting the coastal blooms are. For a few short weeks, the landscape is filled with color—delicate wildflowers scattered across cliffs and trails, creating a natural, effortless backdrop. And then, just like that, it’s gone.
